Rockstar Games has just announced that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be released for iPhone and iPod touch later this year. The game is being developed by the same company that makes the PSP GTA games, Rockstar Leeds. This version of the game will be available this Fall.

Chinatown Wars is already out for the Nintendo DS, and scored very positive reviews. A PSP version of the game is coming out October 22nd.

I am sort of anxious to see how well this game will fair against the other GTA-like games already on the App Store, like: Payback, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle and Car Jack Streets. Car Jack Streets was actually developed by Tag Games, an independent mobile game developer that has some close ties to the early days of Rockstar Games.
